Webster/Siren 1 vs Grantsburg 17 Whitney Myers collected four hits in four at bats, as the Pirates defeated Webster/Siren 17-1 on Thursday. Meyers hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning, doubled in the third inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the second inning.
Grantsburg got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Webster/Siren committed an error, Ashlynn Lener walked, and Kate Peterson hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. A single by Ruby Rengo, a single by Kylie Hansen, and a ground out by Abby Rombach helped the Pirates extend their early lead in the second. The Grantsburg Pirates scored seven runs on two hits in the bottom of the third inning. Myers doubled, scoring two runs, Kaylie Moore drew a walk, scoring one run, Lener was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Samantha Kramer grounded out, scoring two runs, and Kendall Lebeck singled scoring one run. Three more Pirates runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 17-1. Myers hit a solo home run to left field, T St. John induced Lener to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored and Labeck singled, scoring one run. Myers earned the win for the Pirates. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and one run over four innings, striking out two and walking three. St. John took the loss for Webster/Siren. They went three and two-thirds innings, giving up 17 runs (15 earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking 11. Hansen, Myers, and Lener each drove in three runs for the Pirates. Labeck collected two hits for Grantsburg in two at bats. Moore paced the Pirates with three walks. Overall, the team had patience a the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game. The Grantsburg Pirates ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. The Pirates were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Megan Schafer made the most plays with eight. Dewolf went 2-for-2 at the plate as the cleanup hitter led the team with one run batted in. The Pirates play at away on Tuesday against Unity.
